The Heads of the Valleys Hotshots Senior and Under 16’s
outfits were in action at the Rhondda Fach Leisure Centre on 18th
November 2001.
HOV Hotshots Seniors 5
Howardian 8
The Hotshots hit a new landmark in this game, with Jason
Rickwood becoming the first player in the club to have played at every age
group, and scoring in every age group.
However, it was the Cardiff outfit that took the lead when
they scored past Jason O’Neill, but the Valleys side hit back with a goal from
Michael Haile off a Gary Jones assist.
The Hotshots went further ahead when Nick Rogers scored, and
then set up Rickwood to give a comfortable 3-1 lead at the interval.
At the start of the 2nd period, the Howardians
pulled a goal back, but Gareth Emms made it 4-2, then after the Cardiff side
pulled one back, Emms hit the 5th.
At this point, the Hotshots slackened, and the Howardians
were able to pile on the pressure, scoring 5 with out reply.

Gaer Allstars 3
The running was made by the Blaenau Gwent outfit from the
start of this game, and it was a training ground move that got the scoring
under way as some neat passing between Michae Haile and Phil Rodgers resulted
in Rodgers netting.
Haile hit the 2nd goal of the half at the
interval, only to see the Newport outfit pull both goals back at the start of
the 2nd.
With the scores tied, Rodgers went into overdrive; he hit
his 1st off a Jonathan Haile assist, then his 2nd and 3rd
in typical individual style.
He then set Rickwood up for the 6th that secured a
good win for the over 18’s.

Bridgend Dynamo 0
Nearly all this team had played at senior level, but were
all up for this game.
Rob Baker got the scoring underway with a great goal off a
Nick rogers assist, with Rogers making ot 2-0 shortly afterwards.
Mike Haile scored the 3rd off a Jason Rickwood
assist, the secured the 4th by himself.
Rickwood set up Rogers for the 5th, and Rogers
scored the 6th.
The final goal of the half fell to Rickwood, off a Baker
assist.
The 2nd period started with Haile making it 8-0,
then Rickwood hitting the 9th of a James Trotman assist.
The 10th goal also fell to Rickwood, with Nick
Rogers netting the 11th of another baker pass.
The final goal fell to Hotshots captain Michael Haile.

Cwmbran Scorpions 6
For 5 of the 7 Hotshots players this was their 4th
game of the day, and unfortunately it told, as despite trying to play some good
passing hockey, tired legs can never compete with fresh ones, and the Cwmbran
side capitalised.
