The Heads of the Valleys Hotshots Under 10’s, Under 12’s and Under 14’s all had matches over the weekend.

Risca are certainties for the league title, and this score goes to show the gulf between these two sides.

 

The Hotshots goals came from Matthew Downward off a Jordan Meale assist in the first half, with Downward netting the second after the interval.

These 2 sides are more evenly matched, as the score indicates, and the Blaenau Gwent youngsters all showed that they will always bounce back from a defeat.

 

Greg Apperly in goal made some great saves, and as always came off the pitch at the end of the game smiling.

 

Caerphilly took the lead, but the equaliser came from Meale, who picked up the loose ball in front of goal to net.

 

Jamie Lewis put the Hotshots into the lead shortly afterwards, with Defender Jamie Robinson making it 3-1 with his first ever league goal for the club.

 

The Valleys side sat back at this point and allowed the Caerphilly outfit back into the game, and the half time scores saw Caerphilly leading 4-3.

 

Lewis made it 4 all just after the break, and then set up Downward for the 5th; Downward then went on the hit the 6th goal, but again the Caerphilly side got back into he game, and then went on to lead 7-6!

 

In the final minutes of the game Downward hit the equaliser from a Lewis assist.

The Under 12’s took revenge for the Under 10’s defeat against Risca, and did it in style.

 

The net minding was shared between Owen Price and Lizzie Baker, and both performed admirably.

 

Rachel Grovell got the scoring under way with a great slap shot, with Rhys Lewis, playing with a broken toe, netting the second.

 

Sarah Rodgers made it 3 without reply, and then went on to net the 4th, this time off an Alex Trotman assist.

 

Trotman then got into the scoring with goals 5 and 6, with Rodgers netting her hat trick with the Hotshots 7th.

 

Matthew Day set up Trotman for his hat trick for goal number 8, with goal number 9 rounding off the first period scoring, again Trotman hitting the net.

 

Risca scored the first of there 2 just after the break, with Trotman hitting his 5th soon afterwards off a Rachel Grovell assist.

 

Risca netted their 2nd, but then Grovell scored to make the cores 11-2, her goal coming off a Luciano Casa assist.

 

Sarah Rodgers made it 12-2, and then set up Trotman for the 13th.

 

Goal 14 fell to Rodgers, this time with Trotman turning provider.

The 15th fell to Trotman, currently the leagues top points scorer, with Day netting 2 late goals to seal this convincing victory for the Blaenau Gwent outfit.

 

Stewart Rickwood and David Robinson put in brilliant defensive performances that helped keep the Risca score to two.

This was a lack lustre performance from the Hotshots, with Captain Thomas Heard scoring both the Valley’s sides goals late into the second half.

Liz Baker put in a great first half performance in the Hotshots goal, that kept the Dynamos at bay.

 

Thomas Heard hit the first goal, and then Trotman, playing up from the Under 12’s had a goal disallowed; he made up for this almost immediately, however, when he did score to give the Hotshots a 2-0 lead.

 

Alex Symonds came close to scoring, and defenders Peter Rodgers, David Robinson, Stewart Rickwood and Rachel Grovell all played their part in keeping the Bridgend score to zero.

 

Heard then netted twice to make it 4 without reply, with Trotman hitting goal 5.

 

Price replaced Baker in goal at the start of the 2nd period, but hardly had time to settle before the Dynamos had scored.

 

Heard made it 6 soon afterwards with his 4th of the game and then Trotman netted twice to take his tally to 4 also.

 

Berwyn Roderick, Sarah Rodgers, Robert Jones and Matthew Day also put in good performances.
